Have you got access to another monitor you could try out on it?
Does your Pc have two seperate power leads , one for the base unit and one for the monitor?

Might be worth trying the roll back before you do an uninstall and reinstall.

I think your right fella, sounds Driver related to me.
There is this odd thing we get at work quite often whereby the users Pc just go to standby while they are working on them and the resolution and heres the mad bit is to switch power leads from the monitor to base unit and vice versa and this resolves the problem! It shouldnt work but it does and the nerds at HP cant tell us why this works but it does!
