The 1s last longer than 2s too - the leather lining doesn't break like the 2s fabric.
That said, sometimes 1s make creaky noises where the thin tongue rubs against the shoe when you walk.
So they are no good for ninjas...

Put a line of tape over the inside of the lace holes where they touch the tongue and it'll stop.

That made me laugh! Mine have weird squeaky rubbing noise but i thought it was just mine that did that!
