Great work Rob! I understand what you mean about being a perfectionist. I've been thinking of doing some myself too but I would probably go bananas if they didn't turn out exactly how I wanted. And I can't seem to find a pair I would be able to sacrify as a first attempt. So, big up to you for actually doing it and well at that!

I have been experimenting with an old pair but started on the brand new Eldridges shortly after. Benji advised me to buy an old pair on the bay but I couldn't stop myself for beginning on the Eldridges
Keep in mind that it's going to take A LOT of your time. One layer of paint won't do the job. Besides some have backaches I had a lot of fun doing it. I have already started on another pair but they will be more basic.

Wow, Robert these are dope! Super impressed. I too thought they were a Deano or Benji creation at first... and agreed with FC, I love me some maroon / burgundy. Mixed with yellow is pretty fresh. Can't wait to see what you've got going next... thanks for sharing!

Had a closer look now on the computer and your paintwork is superb Rob! Would have been perfect if the buggers hadn't been creased from the beginning. But I guess it would come sooner or later when you wear them anyway. I have the same creasing between the stripes on my green 80's...

Woahwoahwoahwoah....whats all this "doing my own customs" shit?
Benj, you know about this? Fools are gonna put us out of a job!!
Good job though Rob, like the colours too.

do you plan to rock them on the streets?
how durable is that paint job?
oops, that's two questions
I will. I'm not sure how durable the paint is. I used the same paint and varnish as Benji does and his customs get worn. We'll just have to see.

Yes they were all black but no bleaching mate. What would you do to paint a black door yellow? You add a white base coat and a yellow finish, simple
And now no more questions about how the work is done or Benji will kill me and I want him to stay my friend for a while

You don't know how one shoe is going to behave to another. They are all different and the proof is in the pudding or the wearing. Just because the job was durable on one doesn't mean it will be on other models made with different materials. I have had the same white 80s but using different leather or plastic leather. Different pigments behave in different ways too, some weaken the paint more than others. These jobs will never stand up the way factory ones do, just check the clauses on lots of famous customiser's websites. It is all a learning curve and I for one think I am just beginning (so my advice should be taken with a caution), I have seen the weaknesses in my work come back to bite me. Remember that nearly all the knowledge out there is based around painting Noike shoes and their materials, not adidas. So expect things to go wrong (even when taking your own mistakes out of the equation), but hope they don't. Sorry for the speech, but needed to be said.
