soles? -

i don't really have enough experience with adidas' soles to answer this question myself, hence this thread.
i have a pair of lakais which i've had for quite a few years now.
the problem is that their soles have become hard, rather plastic-like.
my concern: if i take out all of my superstars and wear them occasionally, will their soles become hard like the ones on my lakais?
any experience on this? i am thinking that it's only if you don't wear them enough, as my 6 year old superstars have fresh soles. but if i take out all of my superstars i won't be able to wear them enough to prevent this?

Good question, I've been wondering about this myself, but I think if you wear your Superstars the soles will last longer. If you just keep them deadstock in the box they will get ruined faster, unless you have some sort of humid-controlled room of course. Same goes for the leather, I think that will dry up quicker if the shoes are just kept in the box.

i haven't thought about it that way, but you could be right.
i just thought it would be a shame to do the wrong thing.
nevertheless your theory encourages one to get as many superstars on as possible, which isn't that bad after all

That's definitely the way I'm starting to look at it.
The ideal environment for storing leather is detrimental to storing rubber and vice versa.
Tis a problem.
The solution.
Wear all your trainers cos if they die you won't have had a chance to enjoy them.

good point!
there was a post with some pics of a dude who had shrink-wrapped all of his sneakers. why would he do that, is that a good idea?

I doubt it, unless he was very careful the leather will go musty and rot the glue will go off and the rubber will sweat.
Seems like a good idea but I reckon they'll look shit in about 3 years.
Just look at the soles of some of the IB's and JMJ's and they've only been about 3 years.

yeah that's what i thought at first as well.
it's still kinda sad though. we'll have to invent a coating or something for leather and soles on sneakers to have them live forever

That's the only thing to do mate! No matter how much you love a pair of trainers they're no good to you if you don't wear them. Why store them in a box for 10 years only to find out they're falling apart and worthless? Also, no matter how rare a pair of trainers are, or will become in the future, the money you might be able to profit from re-selling them will never really make a huge difference in your life anyway, so why bother. So far I haven't heard of anyone who's become a millionaire from re-selling trainers.
I SAY ROCK THE DAMN THINGS, THAT'S WHAT THEY WERE MADE FOR!!!
- but take good care of them, 'cause they're preciousssssss Â

How do you wear them out?

They just look a bit fooked and one of them is getting quite thin in the sole department.
