Smartphone help
#1

Hi all,

Because of my financial situation I need to save money any way I can.

One of the things I'm going to do is stop my current mobile contract and get a cheaper one. Since my contract is officially running for another year they want me to return the iPhone 5 I received a year ago,

So I need a new phone which cannot be an iPhone because they are simply too expensive. But I have no knowledge of any of the other brands so I need your help.

I don't want to pay more than € 250,-
The higher the screen resolution, the better
I think I prefer Android over Windows
Apps need to open fast
I will not be playing any games that require processor speed.

Any tips are welcome.

Samsung S3 is still too expensive, even the mini.

I haven't thought about the Nexus, I'll check that one out.

I am just playing with the S4 Mini for the first time (company phone).

Which mean I will have a spare Nokia C7 v soon if your interested.

It's on Symbian Belle (July 2013 refresh) not as fancy as yer Android/iOS but does the job.

I was about to suggest Galaxy S4 mini too. In here it sets you back 290€.
Nexus 4 is definitely a great phone but might be too expensive still. Also difficult to find these days - at least from Finland.
Personally I don't like S3. It looks like a peace of soap Smile Checked the prices and what do you know, basic version 399€ and the better 4G version of the same phone 339€!!! Where's the logic?
Lumia 620 is surprisingly good and yours for less than 200€. The problems is that stupid Windows mobile OS. I hate it but then again I haven't been using it much. Might be something one might learn to live with.

Go on a pay per use plan too Rob, besides changing your phone...get more control over your plan. But I guess it depends on how you use your phone. Europe is cheap enough anyhow I guess. Canada is the most expensive by far...

Not used mine in anger yet but happy with it so far, it seems so light compared to my C7. Since I am so clumsy, I'm getting the Tech21 Herringbone case for it.

O2 do the S4 Mini (Sim free) for £500, however CPW do it for 370. I've seen quite a few on eBay going for 270-320.

I went for a two years Vodafone plan for € 30 a month. Phone was free. I used to pay € 45 so that's a € 15 win. I'm also getting € 250 back after I have returned my iPhone 5.
