please help my town's youth football club
#1
Hi All,

The football/soccer club of my local youth team entered an online contest to win US$8,000 to pay for a company to design a football park in our city. The contest is hosted by the US Soccer Foundation, a non-profit agency that gives out grants to low income communities to promote, grow, develop the love of football in the youth of America.

The contest is a "like" contest on Facebook. Clubs submit entries of their "site" that needs a facelift and would benefit from the construction of a football park. The photos with the most "likes" moves forward to the next round.

Can I count on my SSDB fellowship to take 2 minutes of their day to "like" my club's submitted entry??? Very Happy I sure hope so. We need the "likes" and "shares".

If you're up to the challenge, please visit....
www.facebook.com/ussoccerfoundation

and then "like" the below picture. You have to "like" the picture itself, not just the post, then "share" so others may follow suit behind you.. I sure hope that my fellow SSDB members can help me help my local soccer club with designing a football only park in our city. Right now, we share fields with baseball players. It's utter blasphemy!!!

Our city is Merced, CA (California, USA). We have a population of about 80,000. We have over 1,500 youth playing organized football in the local league. The largest youth sport in our city. Yet, we don't have any football only parks/fields. Most of our pitches are outfields of baseball fields or baseball parks. The city has 40+ acres of land set aside for a park, but no money to develop it. So right now, this plot of land of 40+ acres has rows and rows and rows of corn growing on it along with becoming a dumping site for "green" waste such as tree clippings, grounded up asphalt, and concrete ready for grounding.

Wouldn't the land look better with about 8 - 12 lush green football pitches laid out with trees??? I think so too Smile

We want to change that by winning this contest and getting the grant funding to get a football park designed. With a formal design, it will be easier for us to get financial donations/contributions to do the construction.

Thanks for your help!!! I greatly appreciate it!!

For those of you who can't find it to 'Like', see the attached screen grab - click 'See All' beside 'Recent Posts by Others on U.S. Soccer Foundation' and scroll down.

Streak, Tif, Wild, Shell, Fsid, Pukka.... thanks!

WildOne... yes, Merced labels itself as the Gateway to Yosemite! Was just there again recently. You'd be surprised how many people within a 120 mile distance of Yosemite have never been there.
