(bit confused why they say superstar 2 on the label when they don't have eyelets?? but I'm sure one of the other 'specialists' can confirm this)

not all Superstar 2 have the metal eyelets, some do look like this, but it is a bit confusing.

From what I've learned the padded tongue is the way to tell that it's a Superstar 2, all Superstar 1 have the 'thin' non-padded tongue.

Just so you know, samples are always size 8.5 UK / 9 US & never come boxed

Yeah just to clarify, Superstar 2's can come with eyelets or without them. The Superstar 1 never has eyelets and has a thin tongue.

So basically, if it has a padded tongue it's a Superstar 2, if it has a flat tongue then it's a Superstar 1.


If I remember rightly then:

Superstar 2's with eyelets are called Superstar 2 Metal
Superstar 2's without them are called Superstar 2 Classic

Anyone back this last part up?

My older superstar II's have padded tounge and no metal eyelets..

Newer ones have the metal eyelets and seem to be a very differnt feel and design to the superstar I's..

A lot more padded!
