I was in Vietnam a few years ago, travelled down from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) over a couple of weeks.
Knackered now and off to bed but will have a think about it and see if I can remember any tips for you. You'll have a great time though, of that I'm sure.

nice one SabII, good on ya for going anyway, I fucking hate flakey mates, like travelling with others travelling alone has pros and cons. but if our booked on a tour then you will be fine, most of the others will probably be on their own aswell, hopefully some of them will share your humour/interests. always handy to have plenty of reading material just incase dinner conversation is lacking. keep mp3 player use to a minimum, you aint gonna make may new travel friends if your plugged into your headphones for most of the trip. you'll phucking love it. post your best picks on your return

I used to limit organised tours to 3 days, some times it was just enough other times everyone got on so well that the time flew by way too fast, not that any of the tours were shit, just that some of them everyone clicked straight away where as others it took a bit longer for everyone to get into the flow.
hope you get lucky with your group (that sounds way more dirty than its supposed to)

Thanks everyone. I am not to nervous about being solo as its a guided 12 day tour. I am fairly laid back and get on with most people so hopefully out of 15 people I should be okay. I am quite sociable hence spending 2 nights sleeping in the hostel bar last time I travelled I have never been somewhere so far flung, so nervous about the whole back pack what to take, food, hygiene bogs, personal safety n banged up abroad, sleeper train, junk boat living etc. I am defo going to have to learn to pee stood up I go from hanoi, hay long bay, hue, hoi an, saigon. Not in that order but near enough. I PROMISE NO KNOCK OFF SUPES.

I've had a busy week with my two kids birthdays being Tuesday and Thursday just gone and a joint party for them yesterday. Now all done until Christmas....

Just in Vienna for one night after a crazy night in Budapest (half the bus hungover as fuck!!)
Off to Prague for a few nights tomorrow- going to get messy! And then Berlin and Amsterdam!!

Awesome trips by some of you! i hear Vietnam is gorgeous...and I already know amsteredam is LOL....

Right now in San Fran...happen to walk by Harputs this afternoon...quite hoidy toidy exclusive like....nothing like the place i remembered when there was some nice Adi finds, which by the way there is no trace of any hidden gems....
