Mine do too. It's the outer edges of the tongue rubbing against the inside of the eyelet stay at the top of the shoes. Cured mine by putting a small strip of electrician's tape over the the top two eyelets (on the inside of the shoe, obviously) and punching the lace-holes through again. I'd take a picture and show you exactly what I mean but I'm at work right now.

The only way I got away with it with my wife was the fact that they were unworn. Besides, it's just a coffee table. It's had feet on it before. Smile
