For instance, I could tell you the guy is selling fakes just from his name. In this PC world you would call me racist, but you're buying on ebay, not at the local shop. As a rule, I don't buy from anywhere east of Germany. Thus, I've only been burned once, but new I was burned before the kicks even arrived because even though they were listed as being in the US, they got drop shipped from China.
If a seller is in Hong Kong/China/Nigeria or some other notrious hotspot, I tend to agree with you. But if they base themselves in the UK, it's a little harder to tar them just for having a Chinese name.
If they hide their shipping thing with techniques like you mentioned above, then yea, you'll know you've been done, but if they send from the UK and I'm in the UK, I'm going to have a lot more faith, until the thing arrives and is a fake.
I feel you're stepping on a potential minefield there if I were to argue the point. No matter though, I do see the point you're making.
