The trouble with shops is that your items dont appear in searches as often as auctions (at the bottom of the search results if there isnt many etc) - so you dont get as much exposure, I guess they're good for rare items or running along side auctions.
For records - I found auctions to be good, especially with the rarer ones. I'd recommend getting the Turbolister software, prepare all your listings - you can duplicate them or create templates in turbo lister - www.discogs.com is good for copying and pasting record details....then wait until the next cheap listing day and upload them all.
