It's to give an idea of quality. 10/10 = mint, 9/10 worn once or twice, 8/10 scuffed a little bit but still good, 3/10 completly fucked, etc...

yeah, this is very sad to me.

feels like i got flicked in the nuts.

you're keeping your highest quality stuff though, yeah? all is not lost. you could still have a world class collection with half a dozen pairs.
