@whiskey - how many gallons (US) are you up to? On my next blood donation, I will hit the momentous 10 gallon mark!! This prestigious donation will get me invited to the annual luncheon for 10+ gallon donors. Kudos to you for being a donor.

Damm that's a lot of blood mate...
I'm only on 1,585 gallons that's 6 liters or 12 times giving blood...

We can only donate once every two months and they will take 450ml per time. I've donated somewhere around 20 times so far. Last time they called me for some thrombocytes. It took me 1,5 hours. First they take a blood sample to figure out if it is up to par and then start the 1,5 hour process where they take first some blood then put it through centrifuge to separate thrombocytes from the rest.
then they pump the rest back and start all over again. This takes quite a lot of time compared to standard donation. But somehow it feels good the be useful.
