International Book Week

Sure you'll have seen this all over FB but thought it might also make for a fun thread on here. It's international Book Week. The rules: Grab the nearest book to you, turn to page 52 and write the 5th sentence as a post in this thread. Don't mention the title.

I'll start with this strangely coincidental entry:
