Re-intro -

Since I was away for quite some time I thought I'd do another intro-thread.
Here's the original one:
http://www.superstardb.com/hey-t-1797.html
Actually it happens to be four years ago today
Which is why it's going to be my birthday soon again (but 25 this time!)
I'll try to make this a short story though. Since I started collecting sneakers (the 35th anniversary was what started it for me) I have had a lot of different Superstars. However, when I was younger I wore baggy pants and skater shoes, and probably because of that I had always been used to wearing shoes a bit too big. This resulted in me buying a lot of sneakers which I didn't get to wear as time went by, simply because I had outgrown that baggypants-style. This is the reason for all the pairs I have been selling
I'm trying to find most of them again, but this time being a bit more picky. Still dreaming of that 35th consortium pair (any would do really)...
At the same time I went from high school to a year of doing different kinds of jobs and finally to university where I am now.
At some point I had so much stuff to do, moving to another city, getting used to living alone, university life and all those things. I think finding myself is the correct term... Furthermore I broke my back in a mountainbike accident and struggled to keep up with university work. I am stable now though, had the titanium pieces removed from my back in october 2010. Back still hurts sometimes, but I think I just gotta live with that (haven't given up mountainbiking though, riding more than ever).
Anyway, I haven't lost my passion for Superstars and I won't ever stop wearing sneakers
By the way: I have been using milkthistle quite a lot as Sooper advised and it worked beautifully
I have cut down on the drinking though (it kinda counteracts me trying to get fit for racing the bike).

Good luck finding the shoes again Mars
Glad to hear you're still mountain biking

nice read Mars
come on you have to have a goal with those 35th consorts! ANY shouldnt do.. gotta be one in particular that you want more than the rest.
What were you using Milkthistle for? My understanding of it is that it basically helps cleanse the kidneys... so if you are taking a lot of supplements.. or drinking too much lol

Tates are probably on the top of my list. However, Footpatrols, NBHDs and D-Mops follow closely (in that order).
Sooper recommended milkthistle to get rid og hangovers. And it actually worked quite well

Cheeky bastard !
Good to have you back Mars.
If it's not too difficult a subject to tackle, what exactly happened in the accident ?
Feel free not to answer if it's too tough.

No problem at all! It's important to know what you do wrong to prevent it from happening again.
At a training session in the woods we were going down a fast but easy descent. Probably 40-50 km/h which is a lot on bumpy terrain. In a corner I got too far to the left and didn't see a tree stump... I was thrown over the bike, or backwards, I'm not really sure. All I remember was that I almost couldn't breathe. At the hospital they took x-rays and apparently my back had been compressed, one of the vertebrae was broken. I had titanium inserted in my back for a year to support, just got it out this winter.
From time to time my back hurts, but I guess that's what you can expect. I was pretty lucky not to get paralyzed or something worse. I often think about what happened, the feeling of hitting the tree stump and not being control and so on... But I don't have problems talking about it.
I attached a picture from the day it happened

Holy shit biscuits.
Scary stuff.
Glad you made it through and have the stones to ride again.
Were you wearing a back brace ?

Thanks
Nope, normally you only wear that kind of protection for downhill racing which is far more agressive than cross-country which is what I am doing. Normally there's not a lot of accidents, I guess I was just unlucky. But then lucky at the same time to survive
