I don't know mate, tis pretty much black and white and pretty unfortunate really.
Not exactly sure how many Shelltoes and Shotta have but the total for the four of us would be over 300 pairs of Superstars.

I'm a UK 11.
I've also tried UK 11.5, and some fit nicely and some are too big, so I guess it depends on where the particular model was made (which factory and which country), so basically I just stick to the UK 11, and so far I haven't got any Soups in other sizes than that.

11.5 - 12 are best fit for me. Have got a couple of 12.5s as well, just have to wear thick socks with em.
