They are designed for one purpose, to cover your feet. So... why do they relentlessly try and retreat into the toe of your kicks? Why???

Is it really that hard to make a sock that stays up?
Normal socks are usually ok but even my new adidas ones are doing it.
Trainer socks are even worse.

If anybody can recommend
brands that manage to achieve sock perfection then i would be most thankful.

Sorry, I needed to rant.
I have spent most of the day with excess material around my arches, making them ache.
The remainder of the day I spent attempting to pull them up which was a complete waste of time.
So, as you may understand, i'm feeling very bitter and twisted.

I'm going to get back in my cave now and polish off a tub of Ben&Jerry's 'Phish Food'
I may even make gurgling noises.

do you have the right size socks?
I know if I try to wear US7-11 socks its pointless because they do just what you said

and you know what sh*ts me, meatheads at the gym who just go up and use equipment some old fella is using and not even thank them. saw the same guy do it last night... if he keeps it up in the next 6 months, then I'm gonna belt him (give me 6 months to strengthen up to be able to belt him first haha)

I swear, some of these eBay sellers do this shit out of spite.
