Anyone out here doin' da DJ job?! - Hjamlar - 28-01-08

Well, I was recently sittin' home, bored as fuck, and my friend started botherin' me about bringin' my comp for da party, as she don't know what to play, when to play what and so on... And after the new year party she said I did an awesome work with just playin' music from my comp...
So I started thinkin' that maybe I should try doin' sth more about it...

So I got curious what can I do at the begining to check whether the God himself gave me sth more than just some charm and luck when it comes to talkin' with people...

That have lead me to think that before one will spend xxxx of $ on all that stuff, there must be some basic programs for just tryin' how to DJ on your comp... If anyone could advise me what to do and what to look for, I would be greatful Smile

Well there are some DJing software out there. Personally I don't think it's the way to go! But there are some. The most famous are Traktor, Ableton Live and Mixmeister I think. Dunno much about them though Smile

been djing for 15 years , started on shit belt drive decks and awful mixers , bought 12" records now have thousands ,
really pisses me off with all these new breed djs who dont buy a single slab of vinyl just download the music and call themselves djs cos they can mix on a cd deck that pretty much does the work for em , where i live all the old guard of djs dont have any work any more as all these new kids with there cd wallets dj for cheaper and longer than we would , dont get me wrong cd dex are a great tool to use but its just handed to the kids now on a plate they dont have to go round record stores looking for the vinyl to play and put any effort into doing a good set , dance music and djing is dying a death because of this !!!
