Battery acid probably wont work - it's sulphuric acid, you want hydrochloric acid although hydrogen peroxide might work. Or sodium hypochlorite (like milton sterilizing solution) could be a gentle alternative.

Right, the only thing that has made any impact is Hydrochloric acid.
hopefully it'll look better when it's dry, but you can kinda see that there has been a bit of lightening of the suede in this bad pic...

Well I haven't given up yet, I'm thinking that maybe bleaching isn't the way to go, so I'm gonna see if I can dissolve the dye.
Buying a pair of blue suede boots and cutting them up might end up being easier. Leather work's pretty hard though.
