Just to verify. These are made in France right?
This re-issue came out in 2008 if I'm not mistaken. Any chance these bastards will come down in price? I'm looking to get my first pair of 80's, since, you know, the 80's. My Mom sure didn't pay $100 for 'em back in the day! Also, is this the tongue style that squeaks?

no.. not made in France.

That kind of tongue is the one most prone to squeaking but they don't all necessarily squeak, and the style has just been carried over in SS10 so price is likely to hold, sorry dude.

I got those exact ones for £42 but they were on sale from the standard £65 RRP. I've seen a few UK shops having them on pre-sale for £79 (~$127!!!!) which might suggest the new batch has a dramatically higher RRP.

Sorry to disappoint, they're made in China. As for squeaking, at least mine don't squeak in any way that would disturb my silent walking.

I have a pair of campus that have that tongue. They squeak more than the chipmonks. I've tried to use scotch tape to mitigate the problem but didn't have much luck.
These 80's are just begging me to buy them though. "Yo kungfu! Buy us man. You want us on your feet."

I have a pair of CT Century Lows which have that tongue, even if the flippable kind and they used to squeak like hell at first but for some reason they don't anymore.

the white/black 80`s are all over the shop from last year or 08 and now from this year on pre-order and you have the skate edition to choose from. no excuses on not finding a pair!!

Not made in France kf....may be some decals that say so, but c'mon....if they truly were, I'd have doubled up on a few of the reds n blacks....re: the tongue, I only notice the squeek sounds on the leather/felt pairs, and suspect its b/c of the rubbing action i.e. laces, foot, etc....WTF do I know
