Shoe stretchers?
I don't know what those things are called that you put in your trainer to stretch them out or set a shape. I've seen them in a few pictures of peoples trainers on here.

I wouldn't mind a few. What are they called, can anyone help me out with that?

RE: Shoe stretchers?
Are you trying to stretch them widthwise or lengthwise? If widthwise, ive had good luck with these

My problem is that, depending on the trainer and design, my requirments to stretch can vary quite wildly.

I'm sometimes a size 11, 12 or 13 depending on the manufacturer, so it's often a crap-shoot when I purchase and try them on. Sometimes they need lengthening and others are really, really narrow (tend to be adidas) so I need a few shoe trees doing different jobs, I think.

How long does it generally take for the stretching to permanently take effect? Or does the material slowly reform the orignal shape if it's not continually stretched?

I usually leave em in for three or four days, I think the longer they are in the more likely they are to stay that way...

RE: Shoe stretchers?
shoe trees aren't really meant for stretching your shoe out. they're to help leather shoes keep their shape and the cedar ones also absorb moisture which can do damage to the leather.

most have some type of spring mechanism so you can fit them into the shoe so not much use in stretching.

that thing that dirtyaccord posted a pic of would probably be better suited as it doesn't appear to have a spring.

otherwise a decent cobbler might be able to stretch your kicks out for you.

RE: Shoe stretchers?
Thanks for those replies, fellas.

I would be worried about a cobbler getting his hands on my precious kicks. They usually deal with durable, boot polishable shoes round these parts. Don't know if he'd treat my kicks with due respect round the back of his shop. Surprised
