A contact at ebay... - woody - 24-02-07

Has anyone got a decent contact email address at ebay? I'm starting to get sick of reporting the same fake sellers over and over again with ebay never doing anything about it.

We need someone we can contact directly and maybe we can finally get these twats shutdown.

Anyone???

- lorre - 24-02-07

I understand how you feel and hopefuly a name does come your way, ebay are in no rush to shut down any seller not in Ebays interest, why the hell Adidas don't jump in i don't know maybe they are, i've noticed a few sellers putting notes indicating that they have been asked to fax info to Ebay regarding the authenticty of the product and their suppliers.
And maybe things will now move along a lot swifter the problem is once Ebay get heavy genuine sellers without reciepts etc will find it a pain to get listed and sell.
example i'm very new too this stuff a few months maybe but alot of my stuff comes from non traceable sources etc no reciepts nothing.
Ebay as a company will not be able to tell fake Adidas from genuine so how do you monitor the sellers?
Ok you have very good knowledge of Adidas products but not everyone else does.
All i'm trying to say is that it's a tricky one, i've seen Ebay's handy work dealing with fake products and it's not pretty.
Everyone gets shut down maybe i'm overeacting abit it would be good to know what others think.
I reckon at least 50% of the products on Ebay i'm talking about everything are fakes. China rules.

- Teaj - 24-02-07

I have a personal account manager with eBay. Apparently there are teams of 'experts' who conduct the reviews of sellers. It is clear that a lot of fake sellers have passed these reviews, so these 'experts' either dont know what they're doing or take 'other factors' into account.

I've tried offering help but they say they dont need it, my account manager is happy to pass things onto the Trust & Safety dpt, but I cant get a direct contact there.

I hate to say it but I've given up on them ever doing enough to stop fakes on eBay.......so this forum, and showing people how to spot fakes, is the best way to go.

- Sooper - 25-02-07

I have been rowing with ebay on and off for over a year and i have got nowhere, Half the time the replies you get to the complaints dont even make sense and feel like they are a templated response and each reply was from a different ebay bod which is annoying as there is no continuity and is very poor customer services. My last mail hasnt even had a reply despite two more prompts from me for a reply.
Ebay just dont care and seem to feel that they are above the law and base all their findings on a sellers feedback which is frankly ridiculous as most buyers havent got a clue wht theyve bought and we all know you can buy feedback.
I too have offered my help and referred them to this site for guidance but i heard nothing back. Adidas Customer care (Essex) also say they have dedicated people searching the Web most notibly ebay but they wouldnt tell me what they do they just advised me not to buy anything Adidas from ebay!
I think ebay think that as this is the Internet it doesnt really matter and the Law doesnt apply , unfortunatley it does but no one seems to keen on tackling them.
All we can do is keep reporting , keep pestering and maybe it will pay off eventually.

- mr.pure - 25-02-07

Maybe we should get some people together who've lost out and had no recourse from Ebay or Paypal and start a class action.
The publicity alone should prompt Ebay to do something.

HOW TO UPSET FAKE SELLERS - lorre - 25-02-07

It maybe a good idea to PM somethings as you never know who's watching.

- woody - 25-02-07

I reckon there must be some way in which ebay are responsible.

I find it hard to beleive they can write a clause into thier terms and conditions that basically allows them to take a cut of the profits from selling fake gear. Confused

It just really winds me up when I see the same people selling piles of fake kicks despite my constant reporting of them as fakers. This could even be an angle to take with this - Maybe ebay are allowed to let fakers sell stuff if they have no reason to doubt them, but if that seller is constantly being reported then this much change things? This must mean ebay have to investigate surely???

Mr Shoeshotta, I'd be happy to contact the guy you mentioned personally and not mention you at all if you'd be ok for me to do that? I can see you might not want to though as you sell so much via ebay Wink

I remember scottswiss said he knows a few ebay bods in Switzerland, maybe we can collar him?

And I'm not bothered who's reading this. Maybe someone from ebay will see it and realise we're not gonna just stand back and put up with it.

PRESS - lorre - 25-02-07

It maybe a long shot but every now and The Mirror paper runs little pieces on Ebay scams and this far bigger than any of the stuff they mention, also local press maybe interested.
If you get stuff in national press things will change Ebay cannot ignore that. Wink

woody Wrote:Maybe ebay are allowed to let fakers sell stuff if they have no reason to doubt them, but if that seller is constantly being reported then this much change things? This must mean ebay have to investigate surely???

That's the reasoning behind me continuing to submit fake reports.....but I know a lot of people have reported the same sellers, and they're still selling so maybe if the sellers have already passed the reviews they dont bother?

woody Wrote:Mr Shoeshotta, I'd be happy to contact the guy you mentioned personally and not mention you at all if you'd be ok for me to do that? I can see you might not want to though as you sell so much via ebay Wink

I cant give you the contact details - she will know that it was me! But maybe the best idea is to put a whole load of stuff together - maybe individual complaints from all of us on here, plus something detailing the amount of fake stuff on there and the factors that we would take into account when deciding if something is fake etc. I could then pass this on, but I still couldnt be certain it would get to the right people and they would act on it.

- Sooper - 25-02-07

I agree Woody , somethings got to be done.
I find it incredible that an organiastion thats as big as ebay has no credible complaints system and is virtually uncontactable. You cannot pop into a branch , you cannot ring , you cannot write either ( i think) unless by e- mail. As i found out if you dare to ask them outright a question that they dont like they just dont reply so what can you do when a company does that despite me asking for a reply, it leaves you with nothing and i suspsect many people just give up which is what i think ebay wants us to do.
I cant beleive they have escaped prosecution for letting fake merchandise being sold on their site which makes it their responsiblity in the eyes of the law, if they were a high street shop they would have long been closed down or severly fined.
I was wondering about contacting Watchdog as only a few months ago they did a piece about fake merchandise and the ebay representative in the studio said it was all being stopped! Yeah right!

- ozthecoz - 25-02-07

hmmmmm,

we ALL get a couple of fake ebay accounts

then at set time on set day we ALL

bid on and win the BUY IT NOW auctions by fakers, Those that are fake sellers and dont have buy it now auctions we put in bids of ?10k so that

A any one who does bid on a fakie wont win em
B - there spiralling ebay fees will have to be paid therefore costing them money with no incomings

Obviously the sellers will put in complaints that we never went through with the sale but if we ALL reply to the non payment complaints with the reason for non payment being fake items being sold somebidy will have to do something somewhere

Thas my idea anyway and it may be an idea to make a private invite forum for discusion of such thing - though saying that even if the fake sellers can read this they cant do a hell of a lot a bout it once we have bid Smile

- lorre - 25-02-07

Gosh have you been reading my mind?ozthecoz I've said all this to Sir Pure.
I've already bid on few fakes. Wink

- olstar - 26-02-07

What if there was a decent, alternative to ebay and paypal, that was secure, and the auctions were verified before being posted..

How could a website easily check if a pair of kicks is fake?

Do fakers include the correct serial numbers?

We could include a checklist or question sheet when posting?

There has to be another way!

And i think we shoud think of it! Very Happy

- lorre - 26-02-07

Hi Olstar
I sort of get where your coming from bit i really feel the makers of the original products i.e Adidas have to really go gunning for Ebay, i've seen it happen with other products and the fakers have been shut down within hours of the product listing.
Ebay/Paypal are very good at collecting money etc but crap at monitoring their own site.
What happens when the lister uses libary images? no-one knows if the product is fake until it arrives.
I wouldn't know if my serial numbers were correct or not and how would we get access to the correct numbers? and if we did have access so would the fakers.
Every member of Ebay can already write a guide on what to look out for the only problem is the guides although useful are well hidden.
I think weve all come to the conclusion Ebay is all about making money and if the money comes from fakers who cares.
The checklist is also i way of linking people to this and other sites.

Now orries mate I understand Wink

Might be an idea to get a decent amount of stuff together but is there any point? Like Sooper says, they never bother to reply to anyones emails, you can't call them up, you can't even get a straigtforward email address from them - it all has to be done through those stupid bloody contact pages.
