its upgrade time on my contract and was just wondering what good smartphones people have got ....was considering a iphone but they are like clits .. .. So if anyone can recommend a good alternative . Cheers

It depends on what you want to do. And how you want to use it.

I've had an iPhone and now just upgraded to a blackberry.
The blackberry is sick for networking and its diary and planning features, and lots of kind of businessy shit and is far more customisable than an iPhone.
iPhones are great if you want to play lots of games and listen to music and browse internet.

I think the whole reliability issue is really pushed by the iPhone haters, I know theres a an iPhone posse here on the SSDB and I'm sure they can vouch for the iPhone.
I had one minor problem with my iPhone in the year and a half I had mine, and the network replaced it for me. My iPhone still works fine, and now my young lady is using it and she hasn't had any problems

The iPhone is great my sister has had it for almost a year now and she’s never experienced any problems. Personally I think the iPhone is better than a blackberry.

I'm waiting for the Nokia N900 to be released here, as long as the usual nokia unreliability issues are sorted with it then I'll upgrade to that

I'm working in a firm who is 100% on smartphones and ATM we have around 500 different phones at our office
There is plenty of good ones to come but at the moment only really good smart phone is iPhone. Samsung Wave is to be released some time soon and that might be comparative to iPhone. I wouldn't buy Nokia N900 even if it's Finnish product and I should be boasting about it, but my opinion is that it is not a phone. It does plenty of nice tricks but it's a pain as a phone and it's twice as thick as iPhone so wouldn't keep it in my front pocket. That is also their first and the last (phone) version of brand new operating system Maemo, so plenty of improvements needed.
Another things you might wanna try are those Google Androids. HTC Hero is quite ok, but it's a bit old and there are plenty of better version.
If you absolutely want something from Nokia then I would recommend E72. Slim, quick and with full qwerty-keyboard. No touch screen but not all of us are in to that.

I don't think I have. It sure looks nice, but that stylus thing and windows mobile 6.5 aren't my bag. The slide out keyboard on the other hand is. That Xperia X10 looks quite interesting but haven't seen that either in flesh.

My early upgrade is the 22nd March 2 weeeks am getting an I Phone and this has all helped me confirm my choice. My i pod just too say works and I have lost I-tunes with the lap top fuck up. So am waiting till then until i get all my music back on the pooter.
