My new Run DMCs - real or fake?
OK, now I'm putting my head on the chopping block...
I've recently taken delivery of a pair of Run DMCs via eBay & would very much value your opinions as to whether they are real or fake.
The eBay item # is 150260827811
eBay auction link
I've done my homework a bit, & here's what I can confirm:
- They don't have the little tag on the back
- The black bits aren't all shiny
- The serieal numbers on the tounges are different
- The quality control sticker is orange & in one shoe only
- The sticker on the box doesn't have a price on it
I paid £50, BIN.
The seller has many different 35th Anniversary Adidas for sale, but not all different sizes of the same shoe, so maybe a collection sell-off?
I'm not going to be heartbroken if they are fakes - they look & feel very good to a new boy like me.
Let me know if there's any other info you need.
Thanks in advance for your help here

RE: My new Run DMCs - real or fake?
the "buy it now" looks very suspicious to me, considering he has loads of other 35ths for giveaway prices.
mate im also sure DMC's do not come with blue laces, laces are packed poorly (not tightly packed) since he claimed theyre BIN, laces should be packed tightly?
id say fake, but dont take my word for that, leave it to the experts

RE: My new Run DMCs - real or fake?
Thanks for all the responses guys.
Looks like the only obvious tell-tales are those pesky laces & the price (of course), so I'm not going to cry myself to sleep here. If I presume they are fakes, they're damn good ones (looking at the list I made above).
When I see the prices currently paid for the genuine article, I'm happy. There's no way in a million I could sanction spending that sort of money on something like this (wife would go nuts), so I've got what I'm prepared to pay for - i.e. some apparently damn good fakes. They're very comfy btw, & I was only planning on wearing them indoors at home as retro-slippers
It makes me (as a newbie) wonder why they make so few of a product that is obviously going to be so sought after. It's giving it all to the fake-makers on a plate.
Out of interest, does anyone know what the original UK retail price was on these?

The laces are the obvious tell tale sign - as per Shotta, they should all remain in the tight packaging, but if the seller needed to lace em for show, then why not the obvious red, white (most likely) or black, which came with?
The sure fire sign is the price - anyone selling these know what they really go for on the market...anywhere from $200-$400 depending on region and of course supply vs demand...retail from the stores was around $150 on average.
Note: People here all LOVE the 'stars, and I'm certain have the cheap to rare/costly ones in their collections - key is refraining from fakes if possible - save up if you want the genuine stuff, you won't be disappointed! Buy alot then rotate - you'd be surprised how long and how new they continue to last and look!

RE: My new Run DMCs - real or fake?
You should still put in a claim to paypal m8 even if you seem happy to accept some dude fleeced you for £50 + postage for some fake ass'd superstars!!
At best you get to keep them and get your money bk!!
p.s just think 3yrs bk u woulda only had to pay £25 extra for legit ones!! don't that make £50 for fakes seem alittle wrong ???

RE: My new Run DMCs - real or fake?
You can get some nice OG Superstars for that price, they'll last a lot longer and you wont be paying over the odds for an inferior product - that is what 'giving it to fakers on a plate' is.

I'd say go for the refund on principal mate. Don't give your money to the fakers.

RE: My new Run DMCs - real or fake?
OK, I'm in communication with the seller.
Can anyone see any tell-tales of fakeness on the shoes themselves or the box?
So far I have the laces (& that price) that indicates a fake.
Let me know if you want more pics - I'll take some myself if needs be.
Again, thanks for your help here...

RE: My new Run DMCs - real or fake?
Never mind - I think I've confirmed it myself.
Check the shape of the stitching on each side, going down from the top of the eyelets (in between the 3 stripes & the Run DMC logo). It's different from the real ones.
...arses
...unless this isn't confirmation of a fake?
btw, I've explained this to the seller - ball is in his court now...
