RE: mi adidas originals
Didn't you say there was an Originals store in New Zealand ?
Not a decent one, it's pretty tiny - do you think they'll roll out everywhere? And it's not exactly close, I've been to Wellington twice in the last 4 or so years? Doing it on the interweb would be so much more convenient, and the money saved by not having to travel could buy me another pair of so

RE: mi adidas originals
As promised, but a little late, I made my way to the Adidas Originals store on Wooster St. today in Soho. The two miAdidas stations sit at the back left of the store, and at first glance are pretty amazing. The probs really start when you take a seat. For starters the screen or display is very dark, and its hard to distinguish colors and materials. They should have really opted for something HD or much higher resolution. Then the touch screen doesn't work all too well, and zooming in gets tiresome. The computers tend to freeze, and you have to start over, like i did twice, and it wasn't my fault either. I even had a salesperson helping me out. Overall, it's a cool concept, but it took over an hour and a half for the whole process, and the selections are still somewhat limited. Here is a run down of some options:
You can choose the Superstar II or a ZX model, so obviously I only looked into the Superstar,
You start by choosing material for the back part of the shoe (after the 3rd striped)
- You can choose between faux leather, comfort leather (wrinkly), and shaggy suede
- Then you can choose your colors, and with faux leather you have a few options of patterns, like a polka dot, or adidas monogram both of which will go over the color you choose, but will still remain black. So the print of the monogram is black, on a red background for example. Pr ypu can do a camo print which seemed pretty nice.
Then you can pick the material and colors again for the area towards the front (before the first stripe)
- But you cannot pick a pattern or camo here, even if you choose the faux leather.
Then you can pick the color of the tongue, the lace hole area strips, and the inside lining of the shoe
Then you can pick the materials and colors for the stripes and back end where the adidas logo is at the top
-You have options of faux leather, comfort leather, suede, patent, or snake like printed leather
Then you can choose the color of the front shell, then the color of the whole sole
Then you choose the color of your laces, thin laces only no fat ones
Then color of the stitching that goes along the sole
Then you can put in your 10 digits to get embroidered on the sides, same text on both shoes, colors are your choice
Then you choose your sneaker jewelery, either the Berlin, NY, or Standard Adidas logo jewel.
Seems like a lot of options, and it is. But a lack of colors, and ways to apply them to your shoe as in, you can't point on the shoe and choose your colors, it's all step by step and how Adidas wants you to do it. Plus the flaky system, the lag, the restarts, the crappy keyboard- hurts especially when you are putting in your info, kinda take away from the whole experience. Plus when your done you have to go to the register, kinda re-tell them half the info you've already put into the computer, and then like wait 20 min for them to give you a print out of your order. Thankfully the people working at the store are mad cool, and super nice, and try their best to help. And the girl working at the register was super sweet, and gorgeous. I would love to make kids with her someday Anyways I did go ahead and customize my shoe... I just had to, the thought of Adidas producing a shoe with my name on the side was too much of a temptation. Total came out to $120 USD + $10 for shipping to California. They usually will not ship it out, and will only order it to the store, but like I said the people there are cool, and will help you out. Also expect to pay NY tax on it, since my order was tech from Cali, they didn't charge me tax. Anyways, here is a pic, enjoy:

Also had to make a stop at a Bathing Ape, the store is very very cool, and I'll def make a stop at BBC and DQM soon!

RE: mi adidas originals
Oh yeah and they also had a nice variety of Diesel/ Adidas jeans for both men and women, but at $160 - $240, they were a little too rich for my blood.

How long do you have to wait now for your order?
Apologies for any double posts - it's not my fault - my phone sends the post out twice for some reason.

RE: mi adidas originals
Yeah, huge thanks for the in depth report there Scuderia.
Roughly how many colour options were there ?
Could you choose the colour of the stitching for the whole shoe ?
How many colours could you choose from for the sole and shell ?
Hard. My calling card.

I can't wait! I'm gonna resurrect the design your own colourway in anticipation of this upcoming awesomeness.
Finally my brown and orange superstar dreams may be fulfilled. Seriously, if they don't have brown and orange, I am gonna be a blubbering, drunken wreck (nothing new there then!)
Apologies for any double posts - it's not my fault - my phone sends the post out twice for some reason.

RE: mi adidas originals
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn, I didn't think they were already up and running in NY! Does anyone know if the Berlin shop is fully functional too?
**droooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing**
Also, I need to know the same stuff Pure asked about...LOL... would be cool to know all the options in order to experiment a little before entering a shop, otherwise it will be a case of trying out ALL combinations of colors and materials before settling for a design or two.
Also, the price doesn't seem too bad even though it will probably be at least 120-150 EUR here in Europe. Still, not bad for a pair of customized SS with your name embroidered on the side. Can't wait to see your final shoe Scuderia, please post lots of pics as soon as it arrives!
Superstars are indeed super...
