Depends when that was cos I'd have said send it back immediately.
Paypal don't pay you out of the seller's account unless he has the money, they just pay you and worry about it later, which is about the only good thing they do do.
I'd have sent it back, with full insurance and tracking and had done with it.
Lesson learnt, don't trust teenagers with a penchant for testicular injuries you met on an otherwise friendly and trustworthy forum for sad trainer collectors.............
